Be of Good Cheer — John 16:33
Be of Good Cheer — John 16:33 "In me ye might have peace. Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." — John 16:33 Jesus said this on the hardest night of His life, hours before the cross. He did not tell His friends the trouble would pass them by. He told them plainly it was coming — and that peace was still theirs in the middle of it, because the outcome was already settled. That is what "be of good cheer" means here. Not pretending, and not waiting for things to calm down first. It is cheer that rests on something already done: He has overcome the world. The trouble is real, but it does not get the final say.
